Gaza

In 2005, Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip under Israel's unilateral disengagement plan. Two years later, the terrorist organization, Hamas, overthrew the Palestinian Authority leadership to become the de facto ruler in the Gaza Strip. Since then, Hamas has effectively turned the coastal enclave into a launching pad for incessant rocket attacks against nearby Israeli towns and cities. To date, more than 12,700 rockets and mortars, an average of 3 attacks every single day, have landed in Israel, according to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
